In 2019, the company ETA Cerkno d. o. o. introduced a comprehensive energy information system (ENIS) and, on this basis, upgraded the energy management system in 2020 with system certification according to the ISO 50001 standard. Due to economic, energy and human resources challenges, the need for continuous expert cooperation of experts from ENEKOM in the field of the company’s energy management system has become apparent.

Since the beginning of 2025, technical support has been established to improve energy efficiency in the energy and maintenance sector. Active energy management is being implemented, especially in the area of promoting organizational and minor investment/maintenance measures in energy efficiency. In cooperation with the company’s expert group, the EnPI system and performance evaluation targets, as well as automated reporting systems for calculating costs by work units, have been upgraded. Activities and results are presented to the company’s board on a monthly basis.
Based on technological knowledge, the module for predicting and evaluating batch processes in melting furnaces is constantly being upgraded, which includes algorithms using various machine learning models. ENIS 4.0. (Enereye) calculates the expected melting completion and energy efficiency at the minute level, which leads to further improvements in EnPI in DE Livarna with active energy management.
“For decades, the company has been paying great attention to the field of energy management, which has enabled us to achieve a number of savings and improve energy efficiency in our processes. The cooperation of experts from ENEKOM has additionally enabled us to achieve new process optimizations, which are the result of good cooperation between both partners and good knowledge of the capabilities of software solutions and experience in introducing machine learning, which opens up completely new dimensions of use.”
Damjan Čelik, Maintenance Manager, ETA d. o. o. Cerkno
Active energy management has significantly improved reporting processes and upgraded energy management, which has shown further opportunities and directions for increasing energy efficiency in technology. Only with the implemented measures in DE Livarna did the project financially justify the cooperation with the company ENEKOM.
